A job I just interviewed for would have identifying bodies as one of the job duties. It would only take around 2 minutes, me checking their ankle bracelet and face. What do you anons think about that? I am wondering what I will say if I'm offered the job because I really don't know. It does make me nervous.

It wouldn't be a major problem for me, I think, but since my field of study is Humanities I don't think I'll ever do that as a professional. Have you ever seen a dead body before? Can you tell us what is your job?

Honestly sounds like a cool asf job so I’d take it if offered. Are you going to be working more on the medical side, the crime side, or just preparing/moving bodies?
If you’re worried about /x/-type happenings, burn some incense or do some other cleansing when you get home. It can’t hurt and it may help with peace of mind.

God I wish that were me

How do you feel about dead bodies in general?

Personally it wouldn’t bother as everyone has to die eventually. I don’t mind dead things as long as they are being treated respectfully.

I didn't knew what i'll feel when i'll see my first dead patient and what toll it will take on my mental wellbeing, but when it eventually happened, i discovered that it makes me feel nothing unusual at all, being able to recall their dead faces doesn't bother me. Perhaps you too will know only after seeing your first corpse, hey.. that might be it. Go look at a corpse in a morgue or something and see if it bothers you.

Sounds fun really.

I have worked with corpses before, I have never been squeamish so it never bothered me, but even my colleagues who were a bit uneasy at first got desensitized after a few weeks. If it sounds bad to you don't take it, I guess, unless you really need a job or it's good for your career.

I’ve never seen one before. The job in question would be a Funeral Director. I would mostly be doing administrative tasks, but I was told that identifying the dead would be another duty. They would’ve already been embalmed.

That’s one thing I was scared of. That’s a relief. I looked at some pics of corpses out of curiosity, and it helped if I thought of them as people who had families and whole lives rather than just corpses. The ones whose eyes were decomposing looked a little creepy.

That’s good. I think I will be okay (if I even get the job).

I shadowed under a funeral director seeing a live embalming and saw other bodies. This was when I was considering being a funeral director.

Honestly it wasn't that bad and is something you probably would get used to.

I kinda always wanted to become a mortician, seems like an important and worthwhile profession not a lot of people want to or can do.

It's an apprenticeship program here so you have to find a funeral home to teach you and the home in my area is only looking for shopskeepers/customer receptionists.

Maybe someday. Probably not.

Please, careful with the edge in this thread. Thankyou ladies.

Anonymous 76320

So did you get the job anon?

I had a second, in-person interview today and they said they will tell me by Tuesday 2/23 if I got the job! After talking with them I don’t feel as worried about the bodies.
