Why does everyone treat me like I'm a freak? Anonymous 21361

I try very hard to look, act, and dress completely normal. I wear hoodies and jeans and bean boots in different colors pretty much every day, don't do crazy makeup, wear my hair in a bun, etc. and yet people stare at me like I'm a weird freak and laugh.

I've stopped going to most of the restaurants I like around my school because I tend to go there like every day and the people always laugh at me. The other day I walked out of the bibimbap place last week and one of the servers (she's Korean, I'm black) stared at me and then when I said hi to make it not so awkward she just stared and then started talking to her friend on the phone. Then when I ate there again today that lady started talking to her friend and laughing while she served me and gave me that weird look. I looked at how she served other people and she didn't do anything like that with them.

Today in class I asked a guy casually if the professor had taken attendance, he stared at me like I was speaking Chinese before just saying "uhhh no" and walking out quickly.

Am I so ugly that people literally feel the need to gawk and laugh and run away from me? What do you do about being a freak? Should I just retreat from society? I don't understand people. Can anyone relate?

Was there ever a time that you weren't ridiculed like this? It would help to think about when this started.

Are you sure you aren't being overly self conscious? Sometimes I feel stared at and I have to remind myself people are always looking around but you only really notice when they happen to be looking in your direction

Maybe you have autism or some similar disorder? That's the only thing I can think of where you think you are acting normal but are strange. Or maybe it's all in your head and people don't mean anything by it. It's hard to tell what it could be, not knowing how you look or act in person.
I don't think it has to do with you being ugly, most of the time people are polite enough to not stare in that case.

It's kind of on and off each day. Some days I'm mostly ignored or only like 3 or 4 people smile when they walk by. Other days people stare a lot (today).

>>21366
I probably am but I do things to check and make sure I'm not being totally delusional. Like, today when I was walking to class some guys operating a garbage truck honked and waved at me. I looked around to make sure it was at me and not anyone else, there was nobody else around for several meters. They noticed I was looking around so they honked again and also pointed.

My brother is Asperger's so I suppose it's possible. But I got tested around the same time (many years ago, I was maybe 5-6 years old) and they didn't say I had autism. I heard it presents differently in girls though, so maybe they just didn't check that hard?

I mean the farthest back you remember it being like this. I'm trying to help you ascertain what could've brought this kind of reaction out of people.

Anonymous 21377

>black
Could be racism tbqh. Do you live in a majority non-black area? Sucks but that's people!
Otherwise, give the fuckers something to stare at. Stop dressing down and trying to blend in, wear interesting fashion (that you like). Carry yourself with pride.

Alternatively, when people smile or stare at you it may not be laughing and they may think you're cute. I smile at people I think are cute or dress cool, male and female.

Anonymous 21378

>Otherwise, give the fuckers something to stare at.
DON'T do this.
op are you sure you're not just imagining or exaggerating people's reactions towards you?

Anonymous 21379

>>21361
Maybe your just hyper sensitive to their weird behavior? It's probably more to do with them than you

Anonymous 21383

>I looked around to make sure it was at me and not anyone else, there was nobody else around for several meters. They noticed I was looking around so they honked again and also pointed.
Do they ever yell anything at you? Maybe you could tell what it was if they did that. But a good portion of asshole men seem to like to scare women walking alone. Could always be that.

Anonymous 21406

>>21370

If they waved maybe they thought you were cute.

Idk, people in cars can be assholes. I used to have to ride my bike to work and people (men) would honk and yell things at me.

>Today in class I asked a guy casually … he stared at me like I was speaking Chinese
If you're a generally quiet person at school/college, he might've been surprised that you talked to him, that's why he was staring. Or he's socially awkward and didn't know how to respond to you at first. His behavior doesn't necessarily have something to do with you in particular.

>Am I so ugly that people literally feel the need to gawk

Unless you're literally deformed like the kid in the movie Wonder (2017) or have an unconventional style (e.g. Daniel Avner), you are not ugly enough for other people to stare at you so don't worry about that.

>>21377
This explanation also makes sense. Maybe the server isn't used to seeing black people at the restaurant and that's why she was staring/being weird towards you.

Ignoring theā€¦ posts above, I'm guessing it's probably the poms, or the hairline, or just the hair in general. Either that, or like everyone's saying it could just be misconstrued.

Anonymous 21598

>>21590
Well they are definitely not treating you like that because you're a freak, you look completely normal and very cute but it might be the hair as the anon above me says, or maybe you're reading too much into it because I know that:
> he stared at me like I was speaking Chinese before just saying "uhhh no" and walking out quickly
this is what happened to me when a super adorable boy asked me something, I said the same word twice and ran away quickly. So maybe he was just stunned

From an anti-race-mixing point of view I can logically understand not wanting heteros to date interracially…but same sex too? That makes no sense.
t. Disgusting biracial though lel

>From an anti-race-mixing point of view I can logically understand not wanting heteros to date interracially
Yeah. From a retarded perspective, that post is logical.

Anonymous 21750

>>21590
you look nice anon. I always have people staring at me too and im not sure why, it makes me very uncomfortable because i feel like they're thinking about how much of a mess I am

Anonymous 21751

>>21361
Sometimes people are weird around people who don't look like them. It's not necessarily an ugly/freak thing.
For example, I have really light blonde hair. I get a lot of looks from Asians/Brown people because they're not as used to seeing it, but hick whites like myself dgaf.
