What do you do to feel pretty?
I know I can look pretty, but I think feeling pretty might be better for me since I believe that the mental aspect of feeling good about myself is more important than just putting it on.
Some evenings I do a simple sudocrem facemask and out some oil in my hair. That makes me feel better about my appearance than putting on makeup or getting dressed up, likely because I've pampered myself.
Idk if this is weird but there are some specific albums that make me feel pretty when I listen to them
When you stop trying to look pretty things get better
Sudocrem is amazing. I like taking some time to just make my skin and body feel nice, the most relaxing thing I like doing is scalp massages for my hair (can't tell if it actually does a damn thing though)
I fell down the youtube skincare rabbithole during the era the must not be named and Dr. Dray really makes me want to get my shit together so I too someday can have the kind of soothing beige life she presents
What kind of oil do you use OP?>>12669
this is fully true and if you could bottle and sell the sentiment I'd add a few drops to my sudocrem no questions asked
My hair is ass length so I use generic olive oil. I can buy large bottles of it anywhere for cheap. Works wonders! I have soft healthy hair. The trick is to put a shower cap on for that greenhouse effect, really gets it into the hair
lol wear full-on traditional underwear. Slip/Pettipants. Long line bra. Old school briefs. Girdle/corset. Garter belt. Hose. All beige. Idgaf if no one else sees it. It makes me feel so beautiful.
Skincare, yoga, brushing my hair, wearing a sundress instead of my typical cropped leggings or jean shorts. Basically anything that I used to consider “silly” or “too girly” as a pickme virgin.
There’s something very “pretty” about doing stuff for yourself that your past self wouldn’t consider themselves worthy of imo.
Can’t stress how true and important this is.
i wish i could escape the corset already but it's still quite hard, i really want to reach this point where i don't care about looking pretty
I'd love to get a hold of some proper vintage traditional underwear. Beige isn't my colour, I figure I'd look better in white. When I was younger I was the the type of goth/alt girl who had a weird obsession with Kreepshow666 style 50s goth shit and vintage undergarments have been on my wish list ever since
I collected mine over the course of a couple of years.
Here are some of my favorite sites for you. I’ve bought from all of them and they are top notch service and quality.https://www.whatkatiedid.com/
- the most expensive but this is where I bought my corset from and cincher with removable garters. I’m going to buy a normal garter belt from here soon. Believe it or not the garter belt is a decent price (and is actually functional at keeping your thigh high hose up). Oh and if you’re US based https://us.whatkatiedid.com/https://www.herroom.com/
- I buy my longline bra, briefs, slips, pettipants, hose here. The best price hands down. They have (mostly) everything and every price point.
I’m looking to save up for these soon:https://www.sheertex.com/
- pricey but better for the environment because they never rip!https://www.mysticcitycorsets.com/shop/mcc21-brocade-mesh-underbust-corset/
- a mesh corset for when it gets a bit warm outside.
And here’s just a website you might like:https://www.secretsinlace.com/
I do a few things.
- buy a really nice smelling salt scrub and go at myself top to bottom, tip to toe.
- moisturize with a really nice body butter, I usually go for chia butter.
- go for a haircut and ask them to layer my hair and use some products.
- Buy myself a new dress and shoes
when my hideous square face is nicely hidden from view with a mask or well done hairstyle. also I felt pretty sometimes when I was skinnier….now I can't look at my body in the mirror without instant feeling of shame heh
What kind of longlines do you get? I really wanted the rago 2202 but i read you shouldnt get it if youre short waisted. they discontinued the 2201 though :(
resonate with you, mask and sunglasses have been staples as of late until i can unfuck my appearance haha
honestly, i cry
i feel the prettiest when i do ( glistening eyes and deep red blush thats natural and crimson red lips )
This. I completely understand where you come from anon, feeling that your worth is tied to your appearance; it's a difficult thing to shake off and I feel you.
Read more feminist books (Gail Dines, Andrea Dowkins etc) and check out this list of habits if you ever want to break free from it: https://floatingbook.tumblr.com/post/188151256029/habit-shifts-list-practical-actions-that-can
For me, I like simple skincare (no makeup!) like washing my face and masking. I also like body scrubs and nice smells, or cuddling under a nice warm blanket. For clothes, instead of revealing ones, I like to wear comfortable yet fitting clothes, like soft knitwear and long skirts
I listen to my hot girl anthem. It's not a girlboss confidence song or anything, but it makes me feel happy and confident when I listen to it and that makes me "feel" pretty I guess.
Honestly? I feel pretty when I look pretty. I feel more productive when I feel prettier. Days where I don’t wear makeup vs when I do, I feel much happier. Probably because I have a big giant mirror in my room and I’m forced to look at myself every time I get up. It also makes me feel less alone if that makes sense. Like, I’d rather be alone and look good than be alone and not put any effort.
what's your hot girl anthem anon? i have a playlist i lipysync to in the mirror when i'm getting ready and it makes me feel like the hottest girl in the world
I really like this quote. Came across it recently, and it got stuck in my mind.
If I’m just chilling around my apartment and want to “feel cute”, I put on cute and comfy lounge clothes. I like to wear bloomers, ruffly roomwear/panties, big wool socks or long striped socks. I have some vintage pullovers with cute motifs on them. Picrel are a couple of styles of bloomer shorts I wear. I put my hair up in an easy sock bun or neat pigtail braids.
I don’t like my torso but I do like my butt and legs so my big sweater / cute leg wear combo allows me to not fuss over the features I don’t like and admire the ones I do.
I agree with >>16130
big time but I’m still working on consistently making good decisions & interrogating unhealthy thoughts so wearing my ruffly shit will have to do in the meantime
How do I find a pink version of the frilly shorts on right
They're by Gelato Pique. I'm not sure if they still make this design, but you could find it on asian flea market apps/sites
It was Girls on Film by Duran Duran kek. That song always makes me feel like a hot bitch. What are some of your hot girl songs?
shower, styling my curls, lipstick, long flowy dress or naked.
I put on my favourite perfume, I put up my hair in a ponytail then tie a ribbon around it, wear my favourite underwear under the clothes I'm wearing and do my makeup just the way I like it (really similar to this photo of Alexa Chung).
When I shower I don't just rinse I wash too.
Pretty is a dumb juvenile word imo, I prefer to feel beautiful, and I feel most beautiful when I’m feeling healthy. Whenever I was sad I would always reach for chocolate or junk food and it would always leave me looking and feeling washed out, bloated, fatigued and sluggish.
I had a health scare a few years ago so now I really prize taking care of myself. If I feel crap I will force myself to do some intensive exercise, take a walk if it’s nice outside or go jogging, either juice detox or eat as much fruit and vegetables and herbal teas as I want to plus a bunch of supplements, I find all these things give me lots of energy so to wind down I will do dry brushing, lymph massage, have a really long bath with herbal bath salts in it, put scented oils in my hair and use an organic creamy face mask, put on silk pyjamas, lay in bed and watch my favorite tv show or listen to meditation music. I don’t care about the way I look to others, appearance is not important, self care isn’t about the way you look imo, it’s about nourishing your body inside out and if you treat yourself well and reduce stress in your life, then your hair, skin, nails, and body in general will glow anyway, it’s just a side perk.
i love alexa chung. she looks so effortless and pretty all the time.
Not coquette, more in an "arthoe" way than anything.>>16452
Yes, she's so exceptionally beautiful and down to earth.
Dry brushing is amazing. I need to buy a brush and start doing it again. It just feels so good and luxurious.
taking an evening to do some self care makes me feel pretty! i run a nice warm bath, sometimes with those aveeno oatmeal packets or some almond oil. maybe light a candle. put on a face mask (queen helene mint julep mask is really refreshing, there’s also a paula’s choice mask that i find really good for acne). using a body scrub kino, helps me feel clean and scrubbed from the world. if i used oil in the bath i’ll rub that in after i get out but if not i’ll put on some moisturizer. then some music that i like, maybe dance a little and lip sync in front of the mirror. make some tea and have a favourite snack and watch a show or a movie… i used to have a rice cake with peanut butter, banana slices, and cinnamon. it tastes so good
