Hetalia.World_Star…

Hetalia Anonymous 16763

Since new season of Hetalia anime has been announced for spring 2021, why not have a Hetalia thread?
There must be anons here who are/were into Hetalia.

Who is your favorite country?

What do you ship?

How long have you been into Hetalia? Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point? Are you going to check out the new material? Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?

Anonymous 16766

>Who is your favorite country?
Japan, Luxembourg, and Russia are my favorites, though France and Austria have the best character songs

>What do you ship?

not a big shipper, but if I had to choose one it would be America and japan

>How long have you been into Hetalia? Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point? Are you going to check out the new material? Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?

I have been into hetalia for a few years, I don't consume it as much but and I will check out the new seasons. Fortunately I joined just when the fandom was cooling down so I don't have any bad memories of it

>Who is your favorite country?
The nordics and China. Was pretty fond of all the nyos, too.

>What do you ship?

I like Dennor, Rusame and Fruk the most.

>How long have you been into Hetalia?

Since the beginning of middle school.

>Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point?

Dropped it after season 6 finished airing and the fandom died down.

>Are you going to check out the new material?

Yeah, definitely. I started getting back into it during quarantine this year, so it's perfect timing.

>Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?

Best? Probably all the quality fan content that came out. I think hetalia is comparable to Touhou in this sense; both have limited amounts of canon that the fandom expands immensely on.
Worst? Honestly didn't think the fandom was that bad. But I was so obsessed with the show in middle school it was embarrassing.

Hetalia_ Austria P…

>Who is your favorite country?
Austria was my husbando
>What do you ship?
I really liked Spain and Romano
>How long have you been into Hetalia? Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point? Are you going to check out the new material? Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?
I got into Hetalia back in 2014 and lost interest around a year later. I'll definitely watch the new season for old times sake. I don't really have any bad memories but I did try and sneak in subtle Hetalia references in my history projects back in school kek

i was going to do my english project on auf wiedersehen sweetheart (without telling it's a fanfic ofcourse) before it got cancelled because our teacher got sick.

>Who is your favorite country?
england

>What do you ship?

asakiku (japanxengland) and america x romano

>How long have you been into Hetalia?

i watched it a bit in 2011 when it was still on netflix but fully got into it in 2013.

>Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point?

yes. i dropped it around 2015 because i became interested in kpop and was scared off by people saying the show was racist but picked it back up in 2017 to listen to some character songs. i was so obsessed with it in middle school and i cringe at the amount of gerita fanfic i wrote in english and social studies class

> Are you going to check out the new material?

definitely. i have so much to catch up on

>Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?

best:
>the hundreds and millions of creative cmv's on youtube
>hetaoni and other fanmade games
>the character songs and fanmade songs
fanart
>the amount of fanfic to last several decades
>romano fangirls
>the shipping war between FrUK and USUK shippers
>the 2p! thing
>the several AU's
>jokes to last for a lifetime
>seiyuu events

worst:
>glomping.
>the convention videos of APH fans sexually harrassing innocent cosplayers
>insane england fangirls
>the fans that fawned over imagining characters committing war crimes
>that one infamous fanmade comic about the countriesraping america repeatedly to pay for his massive debt he had to other countries
>people unironically hating seychelles
>germany cosplayers doing nazi salutes
>the controversy that happened with south korea

theres probbaly a shitton of stuff stoed at the back of mind

>Who is your favorite country?
At the time it was Germany, I always had a soft spot for Russia too
>What do you ship?
Greece/Japan, Germany/Italy and Sweden/Finland were all favourites
>How long have you been into Hetalia? Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point? Are you going to check out the new material? Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?
god i remember being so autistic on online forms back in the day, getting into numerous retarded shipwars and so on, i filled my laptop with hetalia yaoi at the time and i ended up getting a bunch of bugs on my computer and i didnt want to get it fixed in case my parents found out

>Who is your favorite country?

>What do you ship?
No matter how much time passes, there will always be a special place in my heart for Chibitalia and HRE. Unsurprisingly I also love Germany and Italy, both as characters and as a ship.

>How long have you been into Hetalia? Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point?

I discovered it in late 2009 and was a big fan until a year later or so, but I gradually lost interest as I got into other things. I almost started hating it as I witnessed from the outside the shitshow that was the fandom at its worst, but I never really cared for it again, until the season 7 announcment.

>Are you going to check out the new material?

Yes, I just finished catching up with stuff that came out while I wasn't looking and oh God how much I have missed my boys.

>Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?

This may be nostalgia speaking, but I only have good memories. Watching HetaOni and niconico PMVs for hours on end, reading pages and pages of fanfiction, listening to the songs/fansongs, drawing the mochis on my notes to make history class more fun. Just take me back please.

To make up for my lack of bad memories about the fandom, here's some Hetalia stuff I don't like: I remember absolutely HATING the Paint it White movie, in my opinion it only shows the anime doesn't really work as anything more than short, self contained gags. I feel like Italy is the only one who's not out of character for the entire runtime of the movie, and reusing old footage to get feature-lenght was kinda pathetic.
I also disliked the Nyo episode, I don't get why half of the already short screentime they got was wasted on a literal slideshow instead of showing them interacting.

>Who is your favorite country?
Germany and the Italies

>What do you ship?

Germancest

>Memories

I was super into it in 2010 and then participated for a few years in fandom activities. The most notable observation I made was that instead of stanning Prussia I now favour Romano. No idea why.

Also, the Hetalia Days were always a blast.

Anonymous 23725

>Who is your favorite country?
Russia (in general), France (same) Germany (fujo coomer reasons) and Estonia (husbando)

>What do you ship?

I liked a shitton of ships (I made a list of it), but my personal favorites were a bunch of shit that didn't involve the more popular ships (except FrUK, I fucking loved FrUK)
I think it was something like a love hexagon (I drew it once): France, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Estonia and England. France was always the seme except with Russia. I guess Russia was the true seme in all this, and I didn't like uke Russia, but I didn't ship him that often either. Germany was always uke except with Estonia lol. So the ultimate uke was Estonia.
My favorite ones from this autistic hexagon were RusGer, FrUK, whatever France x Germany is called, UKGer, RusEst FrEst.
Yes I liked rarepairs a lot.
The only ship I hated was USUK and didn't like AmeRus/RusAme

>How long have you been into Hetalia?

Since about 2009
>Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point?
I dropped it in high school
>Are you going to check out the new material?
Probably not anytime soon but I've been feeling nostalgic for it recently
>Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?
Best: getting to interact with some other fans online (although I didn't befriend anyone), posting fanart, saving fanart, staying up all night browsing Hetalia fan communities on different sites, reading about fandom drama and ship wars (I especially enjoyed reading FrUK fans shitting on USUK), drawing Hetalia fanart to test my first drawing tablet for the first time
Worst: Bringing up Hetalia cringe irl at school all the time (I even did a school project on micronations that I was barely able to finish), but at least it helped me pass History class, lmao; forcing my parents to watch Hetalia

Oh, there were so many good memories of my Hetalia phase that I have, that I forgot to mention how much I loved downloading the character songs and putting them all in my shitty phone/3DS and listening to them all the time (ofc my favorite songs were Russia's and France's). Another good memory is downloading so many doujinshi. I miss the livejournal comms and scanlators who uploaded those (and I also miss my favorite doujiin circles). Meeting Hetalia fans and cosplayers at the local cons (which could double as one of my worst memories because unfortunately it wasn't a completely pleasant experience, for example I made a shitty childish joke once and I could tell that the girl, who was a bit older than me, found it stupid, but now that I think about it, fuck her and her shitty attitude). Buying anime magazines to read the Hetalia articles and get the Hetalia posters that sometimes came with them. Downloading all the episodes from the fansubber's website and participating in their forums. Filling notebooks with (unfinished) Hetalia fanart. etc. etc.

>Who is your favorite country?
Germany

>What do you ship?

Germancest. I have no shame

>How long have you been into Hetalia?

I've gotten into Hetalia around 2014.

>Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point?

I wouldn't say I completely dropped it, I always checked back on it every now and then.

>Are you going to check out the new material?

Absolutely

>Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?

Best? When I found out my internet best friend was also into Hetalia, we'd discuss the show together and even roleplay our favorite characters (cringe hobby ik). We'd watch the movie together (even if it wasn't the best) and share each other fanart constantly, we tried to come up with many creative ways in which the chatacters would come to life and interact with each other. It was honestly really fun.
Worst? Probably the nazi salute cosplayers, and the whole nazi stuff in general. Lots of hetalia fans treated history itself as a fandom. Oddly enough, the same thing is happening with countryhumans now, whatever it's called.

>who is your favorite country
Belarus and Taiwan. Their design is cute and I like their personality too, although I don't have a strong emotional attachment to them because of how little they appeared. I wish there were more female characters in Hetalia with more recurrent appearances too.
I also reaaally like pretty much all the Axis and Allies charas + Denmark, who is my husbando.

>who do you ship

UsUk and PruAus mostly. I also like GerIta.

>how long have you been into Hetalia

Since around late middle school, so it'd be nearly 10 years since I got into it. But I dropped it a long time ago as it was a short lived passion for me.

>are you going to check out the new material

Perhaps at some point yes, but not anytime soon.

>best/worst memories

Best was singing the songs with my fandom friends, especially the movie one. I don't really have any bad memories linked to it except maybe the fact that looking back, my anime days as a whole were cringe. I had fun so it's okay though.

I LOVE THIS PIC SO MUCH, IT USED TO BE MY FACEBOOK COVER PHOTO
Omg this pic used to do things to me every time I looked at it. I'd even go as far as to say that it had a strong impact on my young teenage mind and permanently gave me a fetish for men in disheveled clothes, and especially formal clothes and uniforms. Sorry for the TMI post, this just used to be one of my favorite pics ever, though nowadays it has barely any effect on me.
This was one of my favorite Hetalia artists back in the day, too (even though I didn't like Germancest that much kek) she always drew Germany beautifully.
What I remember about the artist is that she was Chinese and deleted her Pixiv gallery, I think. In fact all 3 of my favorite Hetalia artists drew uke Germany lol
Such nostalgia

>Who is your favorite country?

Germany.

>What do you ship?

i have many ships i like but my favorites are gerita, geruk, rusame, and some others.

>How long have you been into Hetalia?

ahh, it's been about 11 years now! im still very much into it, you could call it a special interest. i still collect germany merch when i have the money and keep up with the japanese fandom since i speak japanese. doujin is pretty cheap so i get it shipped to me often. i also roleplay almost everyday still!

>Did you used to follow it and dropped it at some point?

No, I've been into it consistently since 2011 except for brief excursions into Naruto and Mob Psycho 100.

>Are you going to check out the new material?

Yes, but mostly the manga since it's easy to keep up with for me. Over the years I've come to realize that Hetalia was created from a very specific point of view so I read/watch some episodes and cringe. For example I really dislike America's character in canon now and can only digest it in AU's.

>Best/worst memories from the old Hetalia fandom days?

It was always fun to rp with random people on Omegle. Also, reading fanfiction late into the night of course. Worst memory is probably going back to the fandom (I drew fanart and wrote fanfic but didnt participate in fandom for about two years) and seeing how much it had changed. I stick to only talking with old fans now.

Lmk if you would like to get my contact info if you need more Hetalia friends!
