Pokemon Romhacks and Fangames Anonymous 29658

Anyone here into pokemon romhacks and fangames?

>What romhack/fangame has your favorite story?

>coolest art & favorite fakemon!?

>best playing experience?

Anonymous 29660

I played some fangames. pokemon uranium felt the most true to pokemon. never finished it and then nintendo got to them

>best playing experience?

I enjoyed the difficulty and environment mechanics of pokemon reborn but it was made by a tranny and even before peaking, I rolled my eyes when he killed his self-insert. maybe not best but most interesting experience.

But like pokemon to be cute/cozy and most fan games tend to be dark and edgy. I would like to see a game that is just gen4 pokemon contests. Does that exist?

Anonymous 29663

My favourite Pokemon fangame is actually a Touhou fangame called Touhou Puppet Dance Peformance. It basically copies the mechanics from gen 5 but does everythings else right. You can change abilities and moves at will outside of combat, you can see IVs, you can set your own EVs, and so on. It's challenging and has a ton of content. It also has a lot of cute alt sprites for the puppets.

I've been playing Volt White 2 Redux, the bug gym leader is kicking my ass and Darumaka + Victini can't save me. I'm being filtered by a fucking bug gym. But it is a really well done hard mode hack.
My favorite one that was a fanmade region is probably Light Platinum, but I didn't get to enjoy it for very long because it kept crashing on my 3DS (VC). Not sure what was up with that.

Puppet Dance Performance is really fucking good, it's nuts seeing it start as some graphics romhack to a full blown fangame.
>>29660
Never seen a contest romhack before, and surprised there isn't one. Would it just be like a contest simulator? How would you scale the difficulty?

I never see it mentioned, but one of my favorites is pokemon iberia. It's only in spanish language, but it has a lot of tongue-in-cheek jokes about Spain and its people, and it's really fucking funny. The creator got into some hot water by making fun of trannies though. He made an attack helicopter joke and people got on his ass for it. Pretty much like one of those pokemon clover-type romhacks.

I have played Pokémon Prism, it's about a kid that gets trapped in another region.

Anonymous 29707

I've heard the term "romhack" before but I don't know what they are. I'm really interested from reading this thread, does anyone mind explaining it to me a little bit?

Anonymous 29708

>>29668
what kind of romhack? there's some gen6 hacks that change textures, mon stats or dialog already so i imagine there's tools out there
>>29707
ROM stands for "read only memory"
game cartridges have ROM chips that have the game content stored on them
you can extract the games content onto say your PC, usually this is called "dump"ing but people just end up calling all game dumps a ROM anyway
and so "romhacking" refers to editing these files to changing the content of the game. people share these edited files (or just as patches, either way it modifies the original content) romhacks
there's probably a better, technical explanation for all of this anyway lol

its like mods for pokemon games (mostly gen4 and gen3, but some gen 5 and gen 6 as well) that turn them into completely different games with different textures, characters, pokemon, etc.

many of said games are much better than the original pokemon games, and have way better stories, character development, and longer play times. They are really fun, and ther are still new romhacks coming out for the gameboy advance despite being over 20 years old now.

Anonymous 29740

No bully pls but i only like horror rom hacks

Anonymous 29741

>>29740
Bully why? That’s so fricking based. I’ve been playing Romhacks for a decade and I love horror romhacks. what’s your favorite one? Ever played Pokémon snakewood? Or Pokémon reborn? I got like a quarter of the way through Pokémon reborn but it was too scary i wanna pick it back up again tho.

At the risk of sounding like a 2011 creepypasta faggot, I think well made pokemon horror games are miles more entertaining than the standard. I couldn't tell you how long I've tried to find a horror animal crossing alternative as well

>2011 creepypasta faggot,

It's ok anon, I myself am a 2011 creepypasta faggot. You can say anything to me.

Anonymous 29786

People here should play Pokémon Red Adventures.

Anonymous 29787

>>29786
Does it have a different storyline?

Anonymous 29788

>>29787
Yes, it's based off of the Pokémon Manga.

I haven't heard of any, other than Pokemon Jade, which is apparently a bootlegged version of a game called Keitai Denjū Telefang?

"The first two Keitai Denjū Telefang games received an unofficial English translation.[6][7] The original games were not related to Nintendo's Pokémon series, but the translations were marketed as Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Jade.[6] The creatures used for the cover arts are neither Denjuu nor Pokémon; the box for Pokémon Jade depicts a modified design of the forest spirit from Princess Mononoke, while the box for Pokémon Diamond depicts a blue snake-like creature of unknown origin.[7] The translations are notorious for their poorly translated English text as well as serious programming errors that can cause the game to crash.[7]"

It's sad because Pokemon Jade is basically the original game but full of glitches that make it unplayable. I got obsessed with trying to find an official rom of this game (Keitai Denju Telefang) once to play on my emulator, but i never found one that wasn't clearly fake from some shady site or in japanese. It's like if Digimon and Pokemon fused into a game, and also apparently Smilesoft's owner was a convicted rapist or something? It's so bizarre.

ohh a friend of mine got me to play this its so good

Anonymous 30385

>>30120
dunno if you ever found it but iirc it's on one of those huge gameboy rom archives on the internet archive
english patch is at wiki.telefang.net/Wikifang:Telefang_1_Translation_Patch
i've only gotten to like the first dungeon, i remember not liking the battle mechanics too much but at least the sprites are cool
