I think that with regard to the undertale story it is much better but Flowey / Asriel were not so well explored

I was obsessed with undertale for a while, but I just didn't get the same vibes off of deltarune when it came out. From the bit that I watched of it anyways it seemed like a ripoff or fanmade at best. Especially the characters, I found them more annoying than endearing. I also didn't get how it tied in to undertale at all.

I consider myself lucky not to have been on tumblr or in 'the fandom' during my undertale phase. I would just watch playthroughs and theories on youtube.

Deltarune is a lot like Undertale but "denser" and longer, and a little more refined, so DR for sure.

Big shot easily. It captures the narrative feel of that fight and Spamton's desperation and schizophrenia perfectly.

Usually when it comes to fandoms for stuff I loved I get completely rabid and dial the cringe to 11 but for whatever reason I just enjoyed the work itself, looked at fanart, bought some prints, and never got any deeper than that. Normally you'd say "oh anon that's just growing up" but I've gotten fandom rabies several time since and am now in my 30s.

Do any of you have an opinion about playing Deltarune now or just waiting until the full release since I've already waited this long?

Chapter 1 was kinda boring tbh but its worth it since chapter 2 is really funny and entertaining, you should definitely play it. Its free! Later chapters must be paid for though when they come out. Id Definitely say play it now!

Kris screams male to me but yes technically Kris just like Frisk and Chara don't have set genders because you the player are supposed to project onto them. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't bother me, but again unlike in Undertale Kris seems more masculine so I can't see the character as anything other than a teen boy.

Wish there was an update on 3/4 I hate the waiting part of episodic games. It was supposed to be summer this year and we're past that so I'm not sure if it will be out before the end of the year or not.

When Undertale was brand new, that is to say when I first played the game though, I never really participated much in the fan community.

Undertale characters Deltarune gameplay and story. I think Undertale is too on the noise plot-wise for me to enjoy fully and I thought the genocide route in particular was a poor attempt at subverting JRPGs. The reset narrative device is really cool and unique, but I don't want to be lectured about killing enemies that attack me first. I think if it was only the bosses that mattered that would be one thing, and I do appreciate games like Metal Gear that incentivize non-lethal resolutio, but I'm not going to be guilt-tripped for slaughtering froggit once. Deltarune's treatment of Susie in chapter 1 does a way better job of diegetically encouraging peaceful combat.

Too loud but I appreciate any community full of artists and musicians. Most "cringe" fandoms are full of talent. Hope some of those in-progress fangames eventually get finished, it's cool people were encouraged to get into game-making because of it.

Mettaton maybe? I'd like him more if he stayed in his box form the entire time. Supermodels and idols don't do a lot for me. Besides that I think Undyne is annoying, too loud and is only interesting in the genocide route. Lancer for Deltarune, unfunny and kept interrupting me while I was trying to play.

Personally subscribe to the Papyrus fully remembers resets and plays dumb he alludes to recognizing you on replays and it makes sense to me that he being the brother of sans. People debate just how much sans remembers and it's been said that he doesn't fully remember them but he alludes to the surface and how happy he was up there, given this I believe both remember fully compared to other characters who just have a vague notion of Deja VU.

Almost all are dumb and they are a nightmare to deal with on Ao3 people need to properly tag their shit, it's basically a complete different fandom and divorced from the source material. I don't mind HorrorTale though it's an awesome webcomic and actually attempts to maintain the tone of the game, plus it plays with resets the best part of Undertale's universe.

Fontcest though because of above finding fanworks is a nightmare, I'm also picky and hate ecto-genitalia so I prefer sfw or fics that attempt to work with actual skeletons. All this leads to me finding a good 80% of fanfics unappealing so I'm not big on actually finding shipping content for this fandom. As an aside, I don't mind Flowey x sans or Papyrus either both as darkfics or redemption. Deltarune shipping doesn't interest me in the slightest even though I do like characters who have a good deal of content.

Agree 2 is so much better than 1 it's not even funny. Everything from the Music, pacing, characters, it's all handled so much better.
