The basic one (1050ti graphics card) with a 2tb drive is like $800 and it should be more than enough for anything you need both gaming and space wise.

that laptop is a cringe inducing piece of garbage.
just buy a lenovo yoga 730 15inch. It has the same NVIDIA card and it even doubles as a tablet so u can draw stuff/write some notes. If you don't play newer games you could even buy the cheaper 13 inch model and save like 200$ i think
If you're not in the US though I think the dell inspiron 5000 (or 7000) 13 2 in 1 is cheaper (althought I think one of these models loses it's color over time and ends up looking kinda ugly)

Hello I tried to make my computer a bit oldschool, does anyone have any ideas what I could put or any cute winamp skins? It's windows 10 but I turned on the high contrast settings which lets you change button, text and background color like in older windows. Web browsers take on the colors too.
I know it's a bit ugly that's why I posted here, where there are so many people with great taste.

Thank you so much, I don't know much about customization but I recommend when you do switch to windows to get Rainmeter, which has a lot of widgets, like the clock I have on the bottom and the two characters (which are animated - you could even make an entire animated wallpaper too).
But I have to say although I like that all my windows are purple now, it's not optimized to work this way, some websites look a bit weird and some buttons are pure black anyway

I've installed Windows 7 recently on a new SSD because I refuse to use Win10 and for other reasons. But I haven't really felt like customizing it a lot, so I have left a lot of stuff intact. I deleted some taskbar icons that I didn't need though. I should probably delete the shortcuts related to graphics card settings next, along with with the browser shortcuts (I kept them there out of habit).
Also, I don't save wallpaper images as I don't want a generic one, and most of the ones related to my interests are random upscaled or compressed or cropped (fan)art, and I hate looking at beautiful digital art if it's not in its original resolution and quality. Making a wallpaper would be ideal but I haven't had the time or inspiration yet. So I decided to keep the default Windows 7 wallpaper because it looks clean and simple but it's also kinda pretty. I would be happy with a plain blue or black background, though. So in the end it's either a plain color/default and simple wallpaper, or a wallpaper that feels more personal but has to be perfect, since I'm so picky in that regard.
I draw and make VNs
(allegedly) so I have Clip Studio and Ren'Py shortcuts.
I have downloaded a bunch of VNs, but most of them are in my old hard drive and haven't moved them yet, so I only have one game in that VN folder. The PDF reader is for epubs, otherwise I would've pirated Adobe Acrobat instead.
And lastly, I've started making subtitles (my first project is just translating pre-existing subs), so I got Aegisub for the subs, and OmegaT to speed up the translation process with a translation memory (which I should've learned how to use in uni). Actually I was going to make a super-autistic post about why I'm doing this in the vent thread but I felt better by the time I finished writing it.
And I like to use the 24-hour format for time and year-month-day format for date.

Here's mine, despite using my laptop WAY more than my phone (I barely touch it), I take more care of my phone's layout/bg instead, Windows sucks for customization…. W
hy can't we change fonts (and its color), change the trashcan's icon or pick light colors for the navibar? The navibar one specially irritates me, couldn't they make it so if we pick a light color, the font turns black instead of white so it's readable?
Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who dislikes having lots of icons on her desktop, my friends say I'm weird for that.

I remember being able to pick any colour (even light colours) for the taskbar but I'm not 100% sure since it's been a while since I've last used it and would mainly choose the transparent look

Somehow I didn't think of changing the icon on the system settings… Since "change icon" doesn't appear on the trashcan, so I created a shortcut and changed its icon, but then I couldnt move the original trashcan inside a folder or something… Now finally my trash has been yassified.
