I like the art and vibes I guess. I read DB as a kid and watched most of Z, but i would never rewatch the whole thing again because of the terrible pacing, even tho I know it has some pretty good highs and pay off, Id rather watch compilations on yt or even DBZA.
I downloaded BT4 last year. Was fun, sparking zero feels too flash, cant follow whats going on as easily

There are 5 shows. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z (and Dragon Ball Z Kai), Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball Daima.

"Dragon Ball" is a Japanese comic/manga by Akira Toriyama. There are 519 chapters collected by Shueisha in 42 tankōbon volumes; the first released on September 10, 1985, and the last on August 4, 1995. There are 10 story arcs.

The "Dragon Ball" and "Dragon Ball Z" shows are based on that comic/manga. "Dragon Ball Z Kai" is a refresh of DBZ with better voice acting and is largely the way to go.

The classic movies are just non-canon spinoffs that don't take place in the 10 story arcs mentioned above. They largely don't make sense with the main story. Toriyama designed some of the characters (Lord Slug, Cooler, Android 13, Broly, Bojack, Janemba) and was involved in some of them. You don't really have to watch these unless you want to. They are usually only 50 minutes long (about the length of two DBZ episodes).

The modern movies are canon, take place after the Majin Buu Saga, and were written by Akira Toriyama. They are "Battle of Gods", "Resurrection F", "Broly" and "Super Hero". Watch them in that order.

There are 3 sequels to Dragon Ball Z that are different timelines and don't make sense with each other. Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Super, and Dragon Ball Daima. Dragon Ball GT isn't good and Toriyama didn't write it. Dragon Ball Super is good, written by Toriyama, and what people like. Dragon Ball Daima is a modern remake of GT written by Toriyama before he passed that wasn't popular.

Dragon Ball Super is returning next year. The new animation will adapt the “Galactic Patrol Prisoner” arc from the Dragon Ball Super manga.
