it means the jar was already opened before since you can push the button down without pressure forcing it up

you don't know whether it was opened or not if you didn't try pushing the button before you opened it. If it's been opened, you can push the button down and it will pop back up and make a popping sound. If it's never been opened, it's airtight and you can't push the button.
