On Dec 4th at around 6:45 am, CEO of UnitedHealth Insurance Brian Thomson stepped out of his hotel to make his way to a shareholders conference nearby.
A masked gunman, who had been waiting, shot him several times. Once in the back and once in the calf with the words "DENY, DEFEND, DEPOSE" written on the shell casings. He walked off casually then biked on some rental E bike or something. It seemed like the killer got away. But they found his DNA on a water bottle as well as a backpack that matched that in the CCT footage, which contained a jacket and a bunch of monopoly money.
Anyways, after an almost week long manhunt police were alerted to an Altoona Pennsylvania Mcdonald's where 26 year old Luigi Mangione sitting eating a hash brown or some shit.
They found him with his jacket and his backpack (which is suspicious considering the backpack with monopoly money) containing several thousand dollars, fake ID's, a 3D printed gun, and a 3 page hand written manifesto on his person.
He's currently being held at SCI Huntingdon Prison in Pennsylvania while he awaits trial.
What has rocked the media is the astounding amount of bipartisan apathy for Thomson's death and overwhelming support for the shooter.
Personally I don't think it hurts that he's hot. Just brings more attention to the injustices of the US Health insurance scam that has been destroying countless lives.
