Tracking vitamin intake gives me anxiety cuz it seems like you have to eat way too much to hit the norm
I know you’re not supposed to track it anyway but it’d be nice to know if I am not getting enough of certain vitamins

Anonymous 316464

I don’t really have any news years resolutions, maybe I’ll eat healthier though

You don't have to eat much, just eat nutrient dense foods like eggs parsley/dill, nuts, fish

I started taking iron recently because i realized I barely eat iron rich foods and when I do I have it with caffeine which apparently reduces iron absorption
And meat is ridiculously expensive, honestly considering going vegetarian just cause it's cheaper

I'm bleaching my hair tonight for the first time in years and I'm excited but nervous. Tomorrow I'm getting it colored.

What is therapy like? You talk about your life problem, but then what? They give you advices, or drugs to make you numb or what?

Anonymous 316607

saw a video in which a bunch of therapists say they never cured a patient anyway. think its a very metaphysical art to a point of when ur work is never rly over

Wasn’t it a psychiatrists video?
Either these educated people were oddly easy to dupe into saying retarded shit or the impression I’m having is that the editing is quite selective. Probably both. The goal of talking therapy isn’t “curing” anything it’s giving you the emotional skills to unfuck yourself, no?

What is dying your hair like? What kind of process is it? I have long natural brown hair and always wanted to try it.

Is it expensive? Is it really that addicting?

>drugs to make you numb
I wish people would move on from that cliche. It really only applies if you're taking too high a dose or are hardcore schizo. For me and everyone I know, the right meds help you take on the stuff you really want to do instead of sitting on the edge of your bed staring at the wall thinking about all the things that could go wrong. If you have high blood pressure you take medicine to regulate it so you can live a normal life, if your brain always lives in emergency mode then you take medicine to get unstuck from the panic spiral and give you the energy to change what can be changed.
Therapy has different methods but talk therapy is basically explaining how you perceive yourself and the world and issues you keep running into and the therapist helps you work out how to cope with your circumstances or how to avoid making the same mistakes or support you in separating yourself from unhealthy environments (bad family or relationships), making goals and strategies to achieve them and things like that. Of course therapists aren't all good and some of them just suck but overall therapy + meds can be life changing. I grew up in a high-stress environment that made me always watch my back and no matter how much I tried to improve my life I would fall back into panic responses that sabotaged all my progress. It's insane how much the right medication has reshaped how my emotional impulses work. It's like a mental filter that sorts issues into urgency levels instead of making everything a life-threatening emergency.

what

Not everyone is so lucky with the side effects, you just have to have an incompatible nervous system for example for them to fuck you up. I tried very light low dose antipsychotics that aren’t supposed to induce side effects so much and they incapacitated me. Not a hardcore schizo or anything. But it’s good to keep in mind that the meds aren’t intended to numb like the other nona says.

Also I have a similar background to you and atarax really helped. What are you taking and how soon did you notice its effects?

If you have a neurotransmitter deficiency and take a drug that does something with another neurotransmitter that you're not deficient in it's gonna fuck you up yea

Anonymous 316632

always ask psychiatrists about the logic behind their every single one of their educated guesses

There's lots of tutorials online. There is a bit of a learning curve but if you do your research it's not too bad.

If you bleach, yes the upkeep is a bitch.

The "neurotransmitter deficiency" theory of psychiatric medication has basically been out of use since the 1990s. The explanation for why they work is now "we don't know, but they do." I'm always leery of psychs who apparently do not know this, or else they know it and continue lying to their patients.

joining this topic because i have thick dark brown hair and i've been coloring for a while now.

most colors are more or less a paint; they will soak into the hair to color it but can easily be muted or not visually effective at all if the hair you're applying it to is too dark. my hair is like 2 shades from black, so I have to bleach it a lot. bleach (afaik) removes the melanin color from your hair and makes it more receptive to a color change you can see. bleach for your hair is just as bad as bleach for doing laundry/dishes - it makes your hair dry, brittle, and if you apply too much to your roots, will burn your scalp. you just have to be careful.

when you get hair bleach, it comes in 2 parts: powder and cream (at least the brands i get. not sure if there's a brand that sells as-is since its a chemical reaction and can explode if left mixed.) usually costs $30 per bleach kit, i need 2 boxes if im bleaching my whole head. that you mix in equal parts. you apply it to your hair - i try to take one small section at a time and brush the bleach down to the ends. the roots bleach the fastest, so work from bottom to top. when you've finished putting the bleach in, you ideally will wrap your hair in a plastic wrap/shower cap. this traps heat to work faster, but also prevents you from getting bleach on anything else. depending on the person, it can take from 30 mins to an hour to fully bleach. i often leave the bleach in my hair even longer, usually 80 mins just because my hair is somewhat resistant to it. my mom can't have it in that long though, her hair is very fine and will be ruined after 45 mins. shampoo and wash it all out.

if you have any red in your hair, natural or leftover dye, it can make the bleach result look orange. most people will do a second bleach right after (i usually do).

coloring!!! this is the fun part. best to be done on dry, dirty hair. i get the most colorfast results when done on my greasy days. you take your dye (my favorite is arctic fox, typically $15 for a 4oz bottle that lasts me about 2 years, and $23 for an 8oz bottle that lasts about 4 years) and paint the hairs you want to be painted. arctic fox is very gentle on hair and has some conditioner quality to it, so you can leave it in your hair as long as you want. longer time = harder dye, but i found the max effectiveness at around 45 mins. after that its just goop on your hair. rinse with shampoo until water runs clear. the next 5-8 hair washes will have extra dye run in the water, both from hair and washing off your scalp (depending on how close to the roots you got). i get arctic fox to last about 6 weeks of max color if i wash it in cooler water with more time between washes. i get full color gone after about 4-5 months depending on specific color (pink is the fastest to wash out, blue lasts the longest but turns to green about halfway through)

i've had every color of the rainbow on my head except for gray/white. it's very fun to go through colors and try different color combos, even placements. highly recommend it

They put me on medication my entire childhood based on that. It was bullshit the entire time?
