I said before right, how many medieval documents have YOU read? two? three? between 500-1500 AD I had read maybe three. So what do I actually know about the middle ages? Nothing. But as I started to read more, you realise the middle ages are exactly like a renaissance fair but everyone is mentally insane.
I also need screenshots for the Siege Diary of Oreleans, if you've ever read that, during the Siege of Orleans when Joan of Arc arrived and all that. There's this really funny bit, there's a few actually. It's funny the way the English commander was shouting across to Joan of Arc and making her cry, but also there was this random french guy with a Canon that the diary writers kept track of, it's, I can't do it justice it's so funny. Because the diary, it's an official record written during the time of the siege, and it says "this many people died today, this building was hit with a canon, blah blah blah." but then it randomly will just say "And John did much damage with his canon! And he doth mock the English by fainting as one dead!" Ooh my achining tentacles, they loved that guy.

ALSO, because I'm a huge Joan of Arc fan, I even read Voltaire's erotic fanfiction from the 18th century. I actually copy that sometimes, he describes Joan of Arc as having "plump vanilla thighs" which I say often.
But I was saying, if you read the trial records for Joan of Arc, there's two english translations now and the older one is better it has all the famous quotes as people know them. Do you believe you are in God's Grace? "If I am not may God put me there, and if I am may God so keep me." She constantly says "You burden me with questions." Which is also something I say all the time because of her. You burden me with questions!
At the beginning of every day of the trial, they asked Joan of Arc to swear on the Bible (despite Jesus saying not to swear by anything) but they don't actually say "the Bible" they list some books of the Bible. Which means they probably didn't even have access to a Bible, at least not for the sake of the trial, probably locked up in a church. Most people at that time would have had individual books and uh, yeah, that's not too interesting but I'm just typing things because I don't want to walk home as usual. It's a long way.
