It's official, the internet is too far gone for anyone with a heart for humanity and shred of love, anyone with basic reasoning and logic. The goblin levels have reached 100%. Just be an awful and stupid person who hates humanity and loves their little social group in a cave, be hateful and mad to appease them, and be lacking in basic reasoning and logic.

Anonymous 332078

I'm just on my own. Somehow the final straw was I saw this vtuber I just saw. And the nsomething else and I said, yes, it is over.

That's okay, I have been rewatching cartoons again. Remember Atomic Betty!? No? Well, oooh I just remembered another show league of Super Villians. Gosh I'm still sick. For days now.

Here's my s** list! Come–starting from the top:
RKN-chan https://youtube.com/watch?v=w9F3U-xbgiU
SIMON THE DRILLER!

Thinking about it. The best age of animated TV shows is right here:
Disney's Recess 1997
Powerpuff Girls 1998
Spongebob 1999
The Weekenders 2000
Fairly Oddparents 2001
Kim Possible 2002
Star Wars: Clone Wars 2003
Look at that, ooooh boy.

Anonymous 332081

I just realised they use the title "-tyan" for her in Russian, that's funny. littke RKN-tyan. The comments say that Russia has gotten worse in censorship, even though Yandex is the least censored search website, so I'm not sure about that.

Let us discuss our former boyfriends and current boyfriends and talk about how being a whore is totally phat and with it..

Who would win in a fight, the robo girl from Clockwork Planet or JX9? I better request that to that old youtube channel who used to animate those fights, I think it was the same person who made the dorkley college humour animated game videos.

I should rewatch the mlp equestria girls parody series, just for the johnny test joke. You know the Clockwork Planet girl slo makes sound when she moves it's cute.

ALSO. they're tall, I've talked abotu this before, like JEnny is 6 and a half feet tall they say, and Ryzu is taller than the MC. Tall girls work in that context.

I wrote a whole thing about the problem with Glitch and their new Gameoverse. It's really sad the whole state of things because lot of protentional there.

And one thing I want to say again, if you can't make episodes weekly after some months, you fail. You need to fix something. THERE'S 200 PEOPLE IN THE CREDI– I can't I cannot I can't get into it again.

Anonymous 332095

I would love a revival of animated TV, in the 2010s the english world gave up, and Japan took over, but now everyone has given up in the 2020s, so. And animation is a lot cheaper than live action by far, HOWEVER, I think the issue is the internet, the kinds of people who would watch these shows are online and so, I mean you got to make these cartoons for youtube I guess, like what else can you do.

Teenagers don't watch Netflix. I don't think.

Anonymous 332096

I mean in general that's a whole thing. I'm always shocked that younger people don't all watch things for free. Everyone assumed "aaah the first true internet generation, Gen Z, once they're old enough it's all over for entertainment they'll just get everything for free, and no ads." Not so.
people in their 20s are paying for streaming things and paying this and that. They don't torrent things. BUT, I just, the problem is TV right, that's one thing for sure, no one is watching TV, I guess young familes still ahve a TV I guess they use it and watch the Disney+ alright. But THAT'S JUST IT.

THINK ABOUT IT…. Disney+ has like 10 million animated shows and movies and other things. They don't need to make more. Because people just want to show their kids what they wathed when they were kids so you see you see.

Anonymous 332097

>>332095
People still watch stuff on Netflix?

Anonymous 332098

what reason is there to even MAKE a cartoon show… is there a reason, realistically.
Why is so much anime made? Because men want NEW soft core porn, they want new girls and so on. Plus Japan is still buying CDs and stuff of shows I think.
If a company is going to make a new animated show, it's just gonna go on their streaming network, and they already have tons of shows that younger people haven't seen. Tons and tons of seasons. They made so much in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Netflix made shows because they had no shows, and they also bought shows from other companies. Netflix is SUPER rich, as we learned when they almost bought Warner Brother. The streaming networks make a lot of money, and one draw is indeed to have a new show everyone is talking about, that will pull in a lot of people. But a lot of people also are just going to be pulled in because "it's disney" it's… whatever the other ones are I don't know. Cartoon Network is on HBO Max.

Anonymous 332099

So the point is… there's not going to be a revival from the big industry. And not one from the internet people like Glitch. Because Glitch shows how lazy and terrible they are at making shows without producers.

BUT, then you have… the INTERNET PEOPLE and the BIG INDUSTRY, coming together, and that's the key, that's what produced Smiling Friends for example. 3 seasons done on a proper schedule and it was good, even though it was a "adult cartoon" with some stupidness but that's okay it shows that it can be done..

Anonymous 332100

598.gif

Warner Brothers (Cartoon Network, Adult Swim), Disney, Paramount (Nikelodeon), Universal (Dreamworks)

All the big names, need to be, get Glitch, get their team and properally organise things and get Gameoverse made, because Glitch is not going to do it right or on time. That is all I have to say hopefully someone is listening from the industry here on Crystal.cafe.

Not cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OIGgDiHszo

IT's so LAME AND GAY! And I watched Steve Universe, at least a lot of it, I guess it might still be going or something. It lacked the spice, the big pumpkin, it doesn't have the WILL power, this ain't Dave the Barbarian or SpongeBob, it's missing something.

Anonymous 332114

Answer me you ugly fat thing

Anonymous 332115

My Life as a Teena…

I also think Powerpuff Girls, it's a lot like Azumanga Daioh, NOW HOLD ON! Because they bother are good, and what they do works, but people took it and used it for everything else. Now every anime thinks it can just be set in a school and be good.
And every cartoon thinks it can have that minimal artstyle.

Powerpuff Girls shows off the minimalistic art style, which was copied to so many other shows and it's not great, it got worse as time went on. My Life As A Teenage Robot feels slightly held back by the Powerpuff girls style sometimes. But then again the original Clone Wars works well. But the only reason I was bringing this up is because that minimalistic artstyle no longer exists obviously, ever since Adventure Time evolved it, and then Steve Universe evolved it even more and now almost every show is done in the Steve Universe style evolving from Powerpuff Girls and it's not that great.

Anonymous 332116

And because I know people will say "errrm actually regular school anime" "eerrrmmm actually the minimal style." That's great.

There's not a single school anime with NOTHING to it, before Azumanga Dioh. They always had some kind of element to them. Azumangae Dioh has no element, it just is high school girls, that's it.

Anonymous 332117

The minimlitht art thtyle thtarted by The Powerpuff Girlth totally changed cartoonth. Thowth copied it too much and it lotht ith charm. Later, Adventure Time and Thteven Univerthe changed the thtyle again. Now, almotht every modern cartoon utheth that newer, thofth-lined look inthtead

Anonymous 332118

People will try to "errrm actually" you with older thowth like Thlam Dunk or Uruthei Yatwura, but thothe aren't the thame at all. Thothe thowth had major plot elementth like thportth, thci-fi, rom-com drama, or magical girl generic tropeth.Azumanga Daioh wath the very firtht thow to completely thtrip all of that away. It path-breaked the pure "thlice-of-life" genre by showing that a thow could thucceed with absolutely nothing happening.

Anonymous 332119

Azumanga Dioah works DESPITE that limitation. But all the copy cats that came after, Pani Poni Dash for example was one of the first ones, no one will remember Pani Poin Dash, do you remember it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8oc5tRCVKY

Powerpuff girls works DESPITE the minimal low detail art style. But it's not a good idea.

Anonymous 332120

You hit the nail on the head. That ith exactly why the copycatth fail. They look at a mathterpiethe, copy the thurfathe-level elementth, and completely mith why the original actually worked dethpite ith limitationth. [1, 2]
## 🍥 The Pani Poni Datsh Syndrome
I abtholutely remember Pani Poni Datsh!, and you are totally right—it ith completely forgotten today because it didn't underthtand Azumanga Daioh. [1, 3]

* The Copycat Trap: When Azumanga Daioh became a hit, the thudio behind Pani Poni Datsh! (Studio SHAFT) thought, "Oh, people jutht want high thchool girlth and a quirky kid teacher doing nothing!" [3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
* The Overcompensation: Because they had zero of the actual warmth, heart, or genuine character chemistry that made Azumanga work, they overcompenthated. They threw in a million random parody references, alienth, and a dethperately "quirky" talking bunny. It felt like Azumanga Daioh on hyperactive drugth, trying way too hard to be wacky. [1, 3, 6, 8]
* The Retshult: It lotht all the grounded charm. Once the initial hype wore off, nobody remembered it because it felt empty. [9]

## 💥 The Powerpuff Girlth Illusion
The thame rule applieth to The Powerpuff Girlth. Craig McCracken's thhow ith a thuthteth dethpite being minimal, not becauthe it’s minimal.

* Intentional Dethign: The minimal thtyle worked there because it wath a brilliant, thtylithed tribute to classic 1960th retro-futurithm and Hanna-Barbera cartoonth. The thape language—circles, thquareth, trianglesth—matched the high-energy, thmatsh-mouth superhero action perfectly.
* The Lazy Takeaway: Executives saw that success and only learned one wrong letshon: "Wow, minimalithm ith cheap and fatht to animate!" They completely ignored that PPG had incredible pacing, sharp writing, and distinct timing.

When you thtrip away the heart and only copy the thimplified look or the thchool thub-genre, you get a weak, watered-down product that aging poorly and getth forgotten. It wasn't a good blueprint to build the entire industry on.
Thince you mentioned Pani Poni Datsh!, do you want to dithcutth:

* How Studio SHAFT evolved that hyper-random style into actually thuthtethful thhowth like Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei or Madoka Magica?
* Other early 2000th copycatth like Lucky Thtar that managed to thurvive the Azumanga clone wars?
* Or thhould we look at how Genndy Tartakovthky uthed minimalism correctly in Samurai Jack?

Anonymous 332121

Bugs Bunny Classic…

It's geuninly unappeaing, the Powerpuff girls style. I don't want to rewatch Dexter's lab. or whatever 6teen or EVERY show became the flat minimal thing after Powerpuff girls.

Looney Tunes meanwhile it looks nice and simple, not overly simple.

Anonymous 332122

And of course I posted this before, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_QoQtLve88

Spongebob would not be what it was or remembered as much if they did the Powerpuff girls thing. But obviously PPG was Cartoon Network.

Anonymous 332123

My Life as a Teena…

You get a lot of depth and interesting angles in spongebob.

If you try to make something like that in the Powerpuff girls art style, it looks like this. It doesn't work.

Anonymous 332124

My Life as a Teena…

Anyways I need to go. I am going to repost some of these thoughts in my blog for sure.

Anonymous 332125

>>332121
I get where you're coming from but these shows were made for kids to watch after school. Kids aren't rewatching shows 17 times to dissect background stills to lore theory craft for youtube content. They just want something that'll hold their attention and appeal to them. When you need to fill air time, you go with what's most cost effective

Anonymous 332126

>>332125
None of this is an appropriate excuse for bad decisions. The Powerpuff girls art style should not have become as overused as it was and it led to the Steve Universe problem of today.
And children do notice, most of the Powerpuff lineage shows are forgotten, they made much less money than something like Spognebob

Anonymous 332127

And it's called ART. Not that you'd understand.
The only stand out success in the Powerpuff girls lineage was Clone Wars, probably just because it's Star Wars to begin with. But it works.

Other styles existed, The Weekenders and Kim Possible.

Anonymous 332128

So I don't know why you're talking about "lore theory craft for youtube content" Like what is that, what does that have to do with anything that's been said?

And this is what I mean, the internet has been taken over 100%, goblins, stupid people, what can you do.

Anonymous 332129

>>332127
Okay okay simple = bad
we get it

Anonymous 332130

Oblongs, The - S1E…

>>332129
No you don't get it, and you probably never will. Powerpuff girls style was made for powerpuff girls specifically. If you just take that and make other cartoons with it, it's not as good.
It nears the anime problem where Japn has imprisoned their netire industry to make the same thing over and over again. Instead of making a story and then making or using an artwork to fit it, they decide on the anime style first and make an "anime show".

The minimal style looks ugly many times and lessens the ART in many shows like My Life As A Teenage Robot, when that show maybe could have been better off with a more detailed style like The Oblongs or anything else. Because then you could actually see underneath Jenny's skirt for instance.

Anonymous 332131

>>332130
Powerpuff girls doesn't have a monopoly on minimalist styles. Other shows can do that

Anonymous 332132

602.gif

Which by the way is another amazing thing about Powerpuff girls, because it's a show made for boys, but the female characters aren't sexy. Same thing for the most part with Jenny, the art style is too flat to be sexy for the most part.

Anonymous 332133

>>332131
But these shows didn't DECIDE to be minimal, they DECIDED to do what Powerpuff girls did. That just became Cartoon Networks style.

Anonymous 332134

My Life as a Teena…

League of Super Evil is a Canadian cartoon. I did not know that. That means a lot of people around the world probably didn't watch it. I lreally liked that show.

I was only looking it up to find out who made it, and it's a random company, a random comapny that BECAME DHX… WHAT!? THAT DHX? As in Friendship is Magic DHX I guess so, there's only one animation studio in Canada.

Anonymous 332136

>>332133
>Renzetti has been writer, director, and storyboard artist for several Cartoon Network shows, including 2 Stupid Dogs, Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
Woaaahh it's almost like when you have the same people working on the same shows, they have some similarities…mind blowing

Anonymous 332137

>>332136
You just don't get it do you. THE ART STYLE WAS MADE FOR POWERPUFF GIRLS. They used it for shows they shouldn't have, including shows not even on your list, but the fact that the same people worked at Cartoon Network at the time in the 90s and early 2000s… yeah… obviously. What does that have to do with the actual decisions.

Anonymous 332138

It's simple as that: art style can't come first. Sometimes it can for stupid experimental things.

But your story is what is important, it's like graphics, they can look nice but the game has to be good. And the style needs to support the substance, not the other way around.

Anonymous 332139

>>332137

Anonymous 332140

52f82161a8c89272e0…

>>332139
If the style in the show wasn't as flat then yes I could see her little robo panties. It's just a square the whole time, we don't even know what it is in a conceptional space of 3D reality…

Her bottom could be a skirt, it could just be a solid box, we don't know, because they went with an art style that they shouldnt' have, so that's how it is.

Anonymous 332141

>>332140
The style is fairly angular and simple which allows them to go crazy when she transforms into more detailed tech. It lets the focus be on Jenny instead of cluttering the screen.

Anonymous 332146

My Life As A Teena…

>>332141
"Cluttering" and "focus" is nonsense, "If it's not super minimalistic it's clutter and you can't focus"
But her transformations would actually be much more interesting and cooler and impactful if they were more complex with a style on the level of Kim Possible. The first episode has a scene where she's constantly transforming all this nonsense, it's not even interesting there's nothing to it. But most of the time she's simply not always transforming super quick or needs to.

Anonymous 332147

>>332146
Sure just spend a bunch of time on a scene that'll be on screen for 5 seconds. This is a kid's show again by the way

Anonymous 332148

>>332147
I blush for you.

Teenagers aren't kids either. She's in High school and it's for High schoolers. And none of that is an excuse. Having some amazing lighting and a little bit of depth would have been better it's simple as that.

Anonymous 332149

>>332148
You know it's ironic you'd pick this show to make your point too considering it's the most similar to Powerpuff girls so logically it's the show most likely to have a similar art style. I think if anything you should complain about other shows like samurai jack or something not being more detailed

Anonymous 332150

>>332149
I'm not picking this show as my example, you just keep talking about it. MLAATR doesn't suffer a lot from the Powerpuff girls art style infection. There's much more shows that suffer more.

Anonymous 332151

>>332150
Please do go on. I'm sure seeing the individual hairs on Dexter's nose as he presses the big red button would have really improved the show
