How do some women have such gorgeous hair? They don't need to brush it, use conditioner, or buy super expensive products. It just works. They don't even know what they have because they're so used to it.
What's their secret?

healthy habits. doing stuff all day long, exhausting yourself, eating real food that your body has the ability to digest, not being a monster to others or yourself.
when you eat candy or drink coffee and work a job that pays you good but fucks others over, that's you practicing unhealthy habits, that's the opposite, that's you waiting in line to have problematic health which inevitably results in problematic hair.

Genes. Its literally just that.
Healthy habits my ass lol. But also no they dont " don't need to brush it, use conditioner, or buy super expensive products". They do use stuff just cheap simple ones like rubbing coconut oil or sth. Aside from brushing; if you dont have completely straight hair you should probably stop brushing constantly. My mom taught me this habit and it ruined my hair for 20 first years of my life. So I only brush occasionally now and my hair splits and frizzes much less I just curl four big batches around my finger after washing and the drying does the rest.

If it’s not genetics, it’s hair extensions. Started wearing clip in extensions when a bleaching mishap happened that gradually shortened my hair. Also if you don’t have pin straight hair, curl cream is a must. The only “effortless” hair is pin straight and even then it can look flat. Be proud of your waves and curls and buy some curl cream nonas

They probably put care into their hair, they just don't talk about utto you. People like to appear as if their looks are effortless.

people compliment my hair all the time. but i think it might just be my cut - i had a very professionally-done, layered, chin-length bob that ive just grown out for the past 3 years and that im very happy with.
all i can really say for maintenence is that i like using a conditioner with argan oil, pic related, it used to be my goto for hair but the price has gone up recently. other than that you just need to brush it every day. personally i use a bamboo comb and brush set and start with wider teeth then move to smaller, this makes brushing hurt less which is good because it doesn't tear out or damage any of the hair, ive heard that you should also start by brushing at the ends first for this reason.
my friend showed me a list of what she considers haircare secrets one time that had some interesting things in it, but she also told me that you shouldn't do all of them at once and to try one thing at a time for improvement. unfortunately i will not post it because i don't want to reveal her secrets.
should maybe also add that chemical treatments like dye or bleach can damage hair significantly as well as letting it matte up without brushing / washing regularly. i have also heard that using shampoo every day can damage it too. personally ive had fine results with chemical treatment when i used a leave-in conditioner overnight immediately afterwards.
i think hair care is like skincare in that everyone's hair is different. if you struggle with hair there's likely something simple that you can do, but it might be different for everyone.
