Laundry and other adulting advice Anonymous 21763

Teach me laundry
Had neglectful parents, mother especially thought me 0 adult skills or knowledge. I didn't know I'm meant to change my period pads more than once a day until femanons on 4chan pointed it out… Embarrassing. Hopefully this thread can be found useful or interesting for others as well who've been unsure.

Here's some questions to start off:
>When my black underwear is bleached out red from bodily discharge, or when other underwear develops deep permanent white-ish stains, that's a sign to throw them out cuz they develop bacteria, right?
>How often do you do your personal laundry? Is it only til hamper is full? Every weekend even if not much clothes to wash?
>Do you always use fabric softener for your cotton clothing when you wash?
>Does color sorting matter?
>Is 20c fine to use on all cotton except for underwear to extend the lifespan or is that not efficient enough to kill off the bacteria? Is it better to always default to 30c or maybe even 40c?
>What exactly even is "rinse and drain" mode, is it for further rinsing clothes without detergent to ensure the soap is fully washed out of the clothes?
>Any laundry brands you'd recommend specifically that make a difference?
>How hot do you wash your underwear, would you wash at 95c if your machine has the option? Do you use detergent specifically designed for underwear?
>Do you wash second hand clothing immediately when you get them home?
>How often should a beanie hat be washed in your opinion, assuming it is worn daily. How about sweatshirts and hoodies worn daily or sweatpants?
>How many wears or how often every few weeks do you wash your bras?
>Good budget bra brands for EU 70J-K tits? I heard Gorsena or similar sounding polish brand is good.
>How to make cheap perfume actually "burn" into my clothes, make it last even after washing them?

Yes buy COTTON under wear in bulk for discount
~ the white stains aren't necessarily bacterial growth but your under wear losing colour due to the acidic nature of vagina.
Wash twice a week. Bedsheets and pillow covers too.
Instead of using cheap perfumes use myrrhh or incense sticks and light them and leave your clothes in their presence.
Wash your beanies every two days. If a top or bottom is worn for more than 6 hours and no heavy work is done in it then you can wear it once more. Depends on your body odor though.
Yes wash second hand clothing as soon as you get them. Use hot water.
Sports bras wash every dah and reg bras after 2 uses.
I cannot answer other questions due to location diffs lol.

I do laundry every weekend, it is part of my schedule. I tend to not really use up many clothes in a week so if I waited until the hamper was full it'd take very long and that'd be unhygienic, the clothes would get stinky too. So it's best to wash those clothes I wore even if not many.
Yes you should separate by color, it is very important. Maybe not sort every color you have but do keep white and black on their own.

Don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets! Both leave a ton of build up on your clothes and the machines. The residue left on the machine (especially the washer with fabric softener) can start to mold and cause the machine to break down. Save your money and don't buy or use them. If you're looking for the additional "clean" feeling fabric softener provides I'd recommend a laundry sanitizer (I like the Lysol brand) or a small amount of color safe bleach. For static or pet hair in the dryer, try wool balls.

Thanks for all the advice! I appreciate it, but am a little bit skeptical, if you don't mind elaborating. How come washing twice a week for clothes in the hamper, and why do you think beanies only stay clean 2 days? I only shampoo twice a week since my hair doesn't get greasy, and my estiticuan suggested 2 times a week for hair is a fine minimum for hygiene.

I only ask, as it'd help me decide. Online I've read allegedly beanies get washed once a week.

Unhygienic, as in, the bacteria breeds quick and then can't be fully washed out in the laundry machine? Or do you mean the bacteria can then spread out the hamper, into the air and other nearby objects? Thanks for th advice and sharing your routine, it sounds like one I likely will follow.

Thanks! I do use wool balls already, great stuff.

I do short 1-hour 20c cycles for everything that's not outright stained. And yes, it makes your clothes last longer.

21764 here
I dont get your first question completely but I wash clothes from mon to wed on thu and thu to sat on sunday. I change clothes often so washing only once a week is too much for me.
I think beanies only stay clean for 2 days because it is coming in contact with not only your hair grease and stuff but also pollution and dust outside. I also have very long and thick hair so my answer was made with that in mind lol ^^.

>>How often do you do your personal laundry? Is it only til hamper is full? Every weekend even if not much clothes to wash?
I don't have a lot of clothes so I need to wash every week. If you have plenty of clothes you can just wait until you have a full load
>Do you always use fabric softener for your cotton clothing when you wash?
Never but take with a grain of salt, my local water isn't hard
>>Does color sorting matter?
Opinions seem to vary on this but ime it's totally fine if you don't wash hot (30 degrees celcius or lower). Just wash seperately when you wash it for the first time.
>How hot do you wash your underwear
60, that's what my hygiene setting washes at. But I googled it (cuz I never thought about it) and it says cotton underwear at 60 and synthetic at 40
>would you wash at 95c if your machine has the option?
no
>Do you use detergent specifically designed for underwear?
No
>Do you wash second hand clothing immediately when you get them home?
No, goes into the dirty clothes pile
>How often should a beanie hat be washed in your opinion, assuming it is worn daily.
Just do a smell test
>How about sweatshirts and hoodies worn daily or sweatpants?
Smell test
>How many wears or how often every few weeks do you wash your bras?
I wash mine every 1-2 wears because they clearly smell at that point

Samefag but about the frequency of washing, if you're not sure: Does it look clean? Does it smell fine? If yes you can keep waering it. If it has any sweaty/unpleasant smells or has stains or smears etc. in it, wash it. Don't skip the armpit and crotch areas when you smell.

If it directly touches the parts of your body that aren't your arms or legs, then you don't wear it for more than a day.
